How can Mindfulness practice help you?

Knowing yourself and being centered in the moment right now right here enables you to stay resilient in the face of adversity and ultimately blossom.

In today’s complex and fast paced world we face stress, overload of information and uncertainty at all times.

Practicing mindfulness can help to find more clarity and stability, navigating stressful situations and the ups and downs of our work, personal relationships and society at large.

What is Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)?

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a scientifically based 8 week programme designed to help you to

  • be more present in the moment
  • handle stress, pain and challenges in a different way
  • deal with difficult situations
  • befriend yourself and unleash your potential

The course consists of several midfulness practices, both formal and informal. The formal practices taught are mindfullness meditation, body awareness (body scan) and mindful movements inspired by yoga. The informal practice involves focusing on the breath, being in the moment and noticing with all senses what is right now right here.

Also, recent scientific research on stress is discussed, focusing on how our body deals with stress neurologically, also understanding how the body and mind can be of help to decrease the stress reaction, leaving the autopilot mode and reclaiming the driver’s seat.

The course is taught in English and the weekly sessions have a duration of 2,5 hours each. Individual daily practice of 45 minutes is required throughout the 8 weeks of the programme.

MBSR Teacher

Dedicated to accompany you on your mindfullness journey.

My name is Silja and I teach mindfulness out of my passion for understanding humans, my belief in the power of mindfulness for reclaiming the present moment and my joy for working with groups.

Having studied psychology I’ve always been curious to understand what drives us as humans, what makes each and everyone of us unique and what influences how we think, feel and act. The academic education helps me to gain a deep understanding and to put things into context.

Theory without practice, however, does not translate to the reality of life. In line with the motto “If you don’t do it, it does not exist” I trained as NLP practitioner and experimented with different methodologies in the space of prevention and stress reduction (such as progressive muscle relaxation and shiatsu). Ultimately finding my home in mindfulness practice.

In parallel, since my youth, I find joy in working with and teaching groups. This passion arose from preparing students for their upcoming exchange years abroad and training volunteers in intercultural skills, which I started to engage in after my exchange year in South Africa. Today, in my  office job, I design and organize training programmes for leaders around the world as part of the Learning and Development Team of a global firm, enabling them to become better leaders, more resilient and more aware of themselves.

I believe that my background and passion equips me well to accompany you on your mindfulness journey with MBSR. I am looking forward to meeting you and walking this path together.

Why Yellow Elephant as a title you might wonder...

Elephants embody strength, clarity and vulnerability at the same time to me. Additionally they are my favorite animals and as I encountered them for the first time in the wild I was struck in awe. The picture above was taken 2016 in South Africa, Eddo Elephant Natural Park, when I visited my second home with my sister.

The color yellow on the other hand connects with light, clarity and empowerment for me. Three noble qualities close to my heart which I hope to convey in my courses.
